Description: Finding New Ways to Talk to Youth About Issues Revolving Around the World. A year or more of conversational lessons that move from life to scripture and back. If you dont want your youth or adults to think about what they do and don't believe then seek another resource. The methodology is based on Prof. Thomas Groom's "Shared Praxis" model. It assumes that the teacher is really the head learner and does not need to nor should pretend to have all the answers on faith and life.

1 Corinthians 12:5-20 (Today's New International Version)
(I like to have all the kids in the group open their Bibles and read this together out loud)
5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. 7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

Self-Esteem

Description: (Lesson adapted from the book More Activities That Teach by Tom Jackson, Red Rock Publishing 1995)
TOPIC: Self-Esteem Bouncing back from problems is one reason we know healthy self-esteem is such a vital part of a person’s life. It’s the difference between feeling things are your fault or feeling like outside forces have created problems for you, but you can handle it. When we feel as if there is no way for us to successfully handle a situation because of a low self-impression of our abilities, then we find ourselves less likely to move out of our comfort zone to attempt new things. Handle this way, problems tend to perpetuate themselves. God wants us to have healthy self-esteem in order to lead blessed lives and in order for us to bless others.

Hebrews 4:14-16
14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
