The Camp/Conference section of DiscipleShare is meant both for those attending
the events and those remaining behind to get a glimpse of God's blessings
evident in camps and conferences around the country. A significant
majority of those called to ministry, whether through full-time ordained
ministry or through the ministry all baptized people are called to, discovered
their enunciated and annunciated calls at camps and conferences. Finding
a way to share those moments, along with the others, is what the
Camp/Conference section is about.
To sign-up, directors can e-mail Adam Frieberg (adam.frieberg@gmail.com)
and give him the dates and location of the event. They also then need to
select a layout (see below) that describes the features their event can
use. When logging in there are "help" sections for how to use each of the
features, but if in doubt: e-mail Adam and he can explain each.
Page Layouts:
|
|
|
Audiophile
Features: Podcasting, Image Browser, Event Integration Is your event loud? Are you setup to record the waves flying at you? If so, the Audiophile
layout gives you plenty to work with. This layout is setup to allow
audio downloading in both internet browsers and through the popular Podcasting feature in Apple's iTunes. The Image Browser
feature ensures that each time users visit the camp/conference's page
they will see a different image that you've uploaded. The Event Integration
feature links the event both to previous/future events (organized by
the administrator into groups based on recurring events or event
themes). |

|
Blabber
Features: Blogging, Image Browser, Event Integration So members of some camps like to write ... a lot. The Blabber layout highlights blogging
(short for "web-logging" (think of it as online journaling)) that lets
users capture thoughts and emotions mid-event. Useful both for
processing at the moment and for reflecting in the future, the blogging
also serves as a great witness to those in congregations and groups at
home who support those attending. None of us go through life
unsupported -- blogging is one way to increase that interaction. This
layout also fully utilizes the Image Browser and Event Integration functions mentioned above. |

Aperturist
Features: Galleries, Event Integration Everyone enjoys looking at pictures; even more so, everyone loves looking at great pictures. The Aperturist layout centers on sharing links to picture galleries.
Many events have attendees who take a ton of pictures. Some are more
intense by having people there almost exclusively for that. The image
galleries are not stored on the DiscipleShare system; the only
information saved is a "gallery cover" and the names and links to the
external galleries. Many already have other ways they post galleries;
Adam's favorite is Picasa Web Albums, hosted through Google. |
|
|
|
Publishing House
Features: Newsletters, Image Browser, Event Integration Some events overflow with creativity in combining different media for print. The Publishing House layout is for them. Being able to post daily newsletters
may not be as useful as some might think (besides the obvious bonus of
those outside of the event getting up-to-date information); it is,
however, an incredible resource for those at the event to look back
after they leave. |

Mirrorizer - reflections with images and words Features: Blogging, Galleries, Image Browser, Event Integration Words and images have power. Very seldom do they even come close to the power of the subject they reflect. The Mirrorizer layout combines the blogging and image galleries
to give an integrated format for sharing a message. Events should
choose this layout if they have a direction they know before the event
and can use both mediums well. |

|
"Kitchen Sink"-aholic
Features: Blogging, Galleries, Podcasting, Newsletters, Image Browser, Event Integration Do
you know anyone who has every tool at their disposal and, given enough
time and energy, can find a way to use every one? An event with those
capabilities and that much energy deserves the outlet. The "Kitchen Sink"-aholic
doesn't reek of the clunky-ness or stigma its name connotes; this
layout is packed specifically for those who are great communicators.
Anyone who visits a completed event with this layout is hereby dared to
never visit it again! Good luck. |

Routine calls go out to and from congregations, regions and every other
manifestation of the church for more communication in all mediums. This
section is meant to capture just a portion of our life as church and give
inspiration and motivation to everyone. So directors: sign-up and share!
